Payment Methods

Last updated:

This page explains how paying for a Blanket Loft order works: which currency we charge in, where you see the payment options, when your payment is taken, how it is protected, and what to do if a payment does not go through or looks wrong. The payment options available for your order are always shown on the checkout page before you confirm anything, and you will never be asked to pay outside that secure checkout.

Payments at a glance

  • Currency: every price and every charge is in US dollars (USD).
  • Where to pay: only at the blanketloft.com checkout, using the options it shows.
  • Security: payments are processed by the payment provider on its own secure systems; we never see or store your full card number.
  • When you are charged: when you place your order.
  • Refunds: approved refunds are issued to the method you paid with within 7 days.
  • Never: we never ask for card details, bank logins or security codes by email, chat or phone.

1. How payment options are shown

When you reach the checkout, the payment section lists the methods that can be used for your order. What you see there is the complete and current list: we do not accept payment by any method that does not appear on the checkout page. We keep this page general on purpose, so it never promises a method that is not actually switched on. When a payment option is added or removed, the checkout changes immediately and this page is updated.

We do not accept payment by bank transfer to a personal account, gift cards from other retailers, cryptocurrency, cash, money orders, or card details sent by email or message. If anyone asks you to pay for a Blanket Loft order in one of those ways, it is not us; please forward the message to support@blanketloft.com.

2. Currency, conversion and bank fees

All prices on blanketloft.com, including free shipping, are in US dollars. Customers in Canada, Australia and New Zealand pay in US dollars too. If your card or account is in another currency, your bank or payment provider converts the amount using its own exchange rate, and some banks add a foreign transaction fee. Those fees are set by your bank, not by us, and they are not refunded by us if an order is later refunded, because we never receive them. If you want to know the exact amount in your currency before ordering, your bank’s app or customer service can tell you its current rate and fees.

Because conversion happens at your bank, a refund converted back to your currency on a different day can be a little higher or lower than the amount that left your account. The US dollar amount we refund is always exactly the amount we approved.

3. When you are charged

Your payment is taken when you place your order. That may feel early for a blanket that is not made yet, but it is how we secure the order and start the 24-hour change window. If you change or cancel within that window, you are refunded the full amount or the difference straight away, issued within 7 days of our confirmation, as described in Cancel or Change an Order.

If you order several blankets, you pay once for the whole order, even if the blankets later ship in separate parcels. There is no extra charge when that happens.

4. How your payment is protected

  • The whole site uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Check for https://blanketloft.com in the address bar before entering any details.
  • Card and account details are entered into the payment provider’s secure form and go directly to that provider, which processes them under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. Our store only receives a confirmation that the payment succeeded, a reference number and limited details such as the type of payment method.
  • Your bank may ask you to confirm a payment with a code or in its app. That extra step comes from your bank, not from us, and it protects you if your card details are ever stolen.
  • We do not store full card numbers or security codes, so they cannot be exposed from our systems.

5. If your payment is declined

A declined payment does not create an order and does not charge you. The most common reasons are:

Common reasons a payment is declined and what to do
What happened What to try
The billing address does not match the address your bank has on file Enter the billing address exactly as it appears on your statement; the shipping address can be different
The card has expired or a digit was mistyped Check the number, expiry date and security code
Your bank flagged an international or unusual purchase Approve the payment in your bank’s app or call the number on the back of your card, then try again
The bank’s confirmation step timed out Try again and complete the confirmation within the time shown
Not enough available funds or credit Use a different payment method shown at checkout

If the payment keeps failing, do not try more than a few times in a row, because banks may block a card after repeated attempts. Email us instead and we will check what our system recorded.

6. A pending charge but no order confirmation

Occasionally a bank shows a pending charge even though the payment did not complete and no order was created. That pending amount is an authorization, not a completed payment, and banks release it automatically, usually within a few business days. If you see a pending charge but did not receive an order confirmation email, write to us with the date, time and amount; we will check whether an order exists and, if one was created by mistake twice, we cancel the duplicate and refund it within 7 days.

7. Order verification

To protect customers from fraud, we sometimes need to verify an order before making the blanket, for example when the billing and shipping countries differ and the payment provider flags the transaction. We contact you by email the same business day and ask only for information that confirms the order is genuine, such as the order number and the last four digits of the card. We never ask for the full card number or security code. If an order cannot be verified, we cancel it and refund it in full.

8. Paying for a gift

You can pay with your own payment method and ship to anyone in the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. Enter your details as the billing address and the recipient’s as the shipping address. Prices are not printed on the outside of the parcel. If the recipient later returns the blanket, the refund goes back to the payment method you used, unless the recipient asks for store credit in their name.

9. Taxes, duties and receipts

Any sales tax we are required to collect is calculated at checkout from the shipping address and shown before you pay. Import duties and taxes on parcels to Canada, Australia and New Zealand are charged by those countries, not by us, and are paid by the recipient, as explained in Shipping & Delivery.

Your order confirmation email is your receipt. It lists each blanket, its price, any discount and the total paid. If you need a formal invoice for an organization, for example for staff gifts, email us with the order number and the organization’s details and we will send one.

10. Discount codes and store credit

If you have a valid discount code, enter it in the coupon field in the cart or at checkout. The discount is shown before you pay. Codes cannot be added to an order after it is placed, cannot be exchanged for cash, and usually cannot be combined unless the offer says so. Store credit issued for a return or an exchange is applied by our team; email us before ordering and we will make sure it is used. Promotion rules are in our Terms of Service.

11. Refunds

Approved refunds are issued to the payment method you used within 7 days of approval. How quickly they appear on your statement depends on your bank. See our Refund Policy for when refunds are approved and how much is refunded.

12. Disputes and chargebacks

If a charge looks wrong, please contact us first. A duplicate charge, a wrong amount or a missing refund is usually resolved by email the same day, which is much faster than a card dispute. Contacting us never affects your rights with your bank or card issuer.

13. Keeping your payment details safe

  • Our emails come from addresses ending in @blanketloft.com, and our website is only blanketloft.com.
  • We will never send you a link to “update your payment details” for an order that has already been paid.
  • Never send card numbers, security codes, bank passwords or one-time codes in a support message. If you did so by mistake, tell us; we will delete the message, and you should contact your bank.

14. Paying for several people, or on behalf of a group

Group gifts are common with family blankets: five cousins sharing the cost of a grandparents’ throw, or a team buying a blanket for a coach. Our checkout takes one payment per order, so the simplest approach is for one person to pay and collect the shares from the others. If the group wants to split the cost across two cards, place two separate orders, one per blanket, or ask us before ordering and we will suggest the cleanest way for your situation. If one blanket from a group order is returned, the refund goes to whoever paid for that order.

15. Payment questions people ask us

  • Can I pay after the blanket is made? No. Payment is taken when you order, which is what starts the 24-hour change window.
  • Is shipping really free? Yes, to the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, with no minimum. The checkout shows $0.00 for shipping.
  • Why does my statement show a slightly different amount? If your account is not in US dollars, your bank converted the price and may have added a fee.
  • Do you keep my card on file for next time? We do not store card numbers. Some payment providers offer to remember your details on their side; that choice is between you and the provider.
  • Can I change the payment method after ordering? Not on an existing order. If you need to, cancel within 24 hours and order again with the method you prefer.

16. Questions about a payment

Email support@blanketloft.com with your order number, or the date and amount of the charge if there is no order, and we reply within 1 business day. See also our Privacy Policy and FAQs.
